About The Position
The Structural Steel Fitter reads and interprets blueprints, fits material to drawings and notes, and performs material preparation and layout work. The role includes burning, coping, beveling, and straightening material, as well as completing minor and complex layouts for jigs and floor laydowns. The position also provides direct supervision and leadership to production staff, supporting safety, training, production, and quality standards.
Requirements
- Has completed at least a 5/16 fillet weld test.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints for fitting operations and all blueprints.
- Ability to ensure work conforms to drawings and notes.
- Ability to burn, cope, bevel, and straighten material.
- Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
- Ability to perform minor and complex layouts for jigs and floor laydowns.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees.

- Provide training to production staff as needed.
- Encourage continuous improvement and lead by example.
