Dewberry is seeking a Structural (Rail Bridge) Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Bloomfield, NJ office and work as part of our growing Transit and Freight Rail Practice. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS in Civil Engineering (with emphasis in Structural Engineering or Rail Engineering) is required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship experience preferred.
  • Experience using MS Office software and CADD (MicroStation or AutoCAD) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team of engineers on transit and freight rail projects.
  • Assist in structural analysis and design for simple and complex bridges and ancillary structures, as well as the development of structural plans and construction cost estimates and be exposed to construction support services.
  • Perform field inspection of bridges under qualified inspectors and assist on load rating calculations of such bridges.
