About The Position
The Structural Pipe Welder Journeyman plans, lays out, welds, installs, tests, and repairs pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards. The role requires independent, precise welding and assembly work, coordination with field crews, and adherence to production, quality, safety, and contract requirements. The position also involves inspecting subordinate work, assisting with prefabrication and rigging, and using industry tools and equipment.
Requirements
- May require a high school diploma or equivalent, along with prior experience in the field or a related area.
- Strong working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
- Ability to understand, follow, and communicate written and oral instructions effectively with management and supervision.
- Proficiency in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand, power, layout, and measurement tools.
- Must have the required tools.
- Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing and Fit for Duty requirements.
Responsibilities
- Plan, diagram, and lay out pipe welding work.
- Coordinate with field labor crews to support efficient installations.
- Position welding setups, fit piping, and independently perform precise welds.
- Lay out and assemble pipes according to production standards, quality and safety requirements, codes, designs, and specifications.
- Repair welds, including substandard welds.
- Assist with prefabrication layout or installation coordination.
- Assist with rigging materials.
- Operate air arc gougers, grinders, stress-relieving machines, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
- Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, time, costs, resources, and materials needed for work activities.
- Inspect subordinate work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, identify deficiencies, explain them, and take corrective action as needed.
- Comply with safety and project rules and perform other duties as required.
