About The Position

ASRC Federal NetCentric is seeking an experienced Painter to work at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. This role involves independently performing preparation, cleaning, rigging, and structural painting operations on various items and facilities such as structural steel, mobile service structures, weather towers, water towers, and high bay doors. The job requires adherence to specifications and industry best practices for surface preparation and painting. The specialist will work from various forms of information including blueprints and specifications, and may perform work at any height necessary. Responsibilities include mechanical cleaning methods like sandblasting and needle gun use, proper protection of surrounding areas, and matching colors and finishes. The role also involves assembling rigging, scaffolding, and staging equipment, and maintaining compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, NASA, and Air Force regulations, including energy management, security, and safety programs. Maintaining logs, records, certifications, and potentially managing hazardous materials are also part of the duties. The position may require participation in preparation and recovery activities during natural disasters.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Seven (7) or more years’ experience in industrial/commercial painting.
  • Computer literate and proficient with MS Office applications required.
  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain & maintain a security clearance.
  • US Citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Must possess a valid FL Driver License.
  • Ability to work on ladders >6’
  • Ability to operate aerial lifts
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted required.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade School, Military Training or apprenticeship training program preferred.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience desired.
  • Proficiency with the donning and use of fall protection equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Independently, perform preparation, cleaning, rigging and structural painting operations.
  • Determine size and type of rigging/staging required, location and method of suspension.
  • Perform surface preparation for painting in accordance with specifications and acceptable industry practices.
  • Perform any work assigned to the employees in the classification. Perform work in other classifications when incidental, but necessary to accomplish work assignment.
  • Work from written or verbal information, blueprints, sketches, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform work at any height necessary to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Perform mechanical cleaning such as sandblasting, needle gun, wire brush, sandpaper, etc.
  • Properly protect all personnel, facilities, and equipment in surrounding areas where rigging and painting is being performed.
  • Perform sandblasting operations, as required.
  • Match color and finishes.
  • Maintain proper validation of equipment.
  • Assemble/erect rigging, scaffolding, and staging equipment, as required, to accomplish the work assignment.
  • Maintain compliance with Federal, State, local, NASA and Air Force laws, regulations & requirements, CCSFS energy management regulations, security, safety, hurricane and other specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section, working within the limits of established policy.
  • Maintain logs, records, charts, etc., as required.
  • Maintain certifications, licenses, permits, etc., required for performance of assigned tasks.
  • May be required to perform duties associated with preparation and recovery activities during natural disasters to include hurricanes.
