About The Position
This position is part of Section 51 - Bridge Maintenance and Facilities Maintenance. The mission of DOTD is to empower communities and improve lives by delivering responsive, inclusive, and forward-thinking public services. This role involves maintaining and protecting DOTD bridge structures through sandblasting, painting, and skilled maintenance work. The position offers the opportunity to work as part of a team, guide and train others, and help ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently. This role requires comfort working at elevated heights, outdoors in various weather conditions, and operating specialized equipment while following DOTD safety standards and procedures. DOTD employees must comply with applicable Louisiana and Civil Service laws, rules, and regulations, as well as DOTD policies, procedures, manuals, and directives.
Requirements
- Three years of experience or training in the painting trade.
- One year of the required experience must have been on-the-job experience.
Responsibilities
- Performs sandblasting and surface preparation on bridge structures, including work at elevated heights.
- Applies various types of coatings and paints using airless and conventional spray equipment.
- Provides direction, training, and guidance to Structural Painter 1 employees and apprentices while coordinating daily work activities.
- Inspects job sites, ensures proper materials and equipment are available, performs equipment maintenance, and operates vehicles and equipment as needed.
