Arcadis is looking for a Discipline Team Leader with a strong civil structural background to develop and grow our design team in East Canada to lead and support road, rail, and port projects, including heavy civil structures, foundations, and bridges, in QC., Alberta and across Canada. Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Minimum 10 years experience in civil structure design on small, medium, and large civil engineering projects, ideally in the roads, rail, and ports sectors including deep excavations, retaining walls, foundations, and bridges
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills
  • Ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in Quebec, and Atlantic Canada and Ontario
  • Technical knowledge of civil structural and bridge engineering design and analysis principles
  • Excellent technical report writing experience and skills
  • French - required
  • English - required to collaborate with teams and clients outside of Quebec.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and managing a small and growing team in Vancouver, producing, supervising, and managing the creation of engineering products on a wide variety of small to large projects in the road, ports, rail and transit sectors.
  • Leading project teams to define the problem, establish the work scope, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight.
  • Performing complex technical engineering tasks efficiently and accurately and lead and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Preparing and checking detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, quantities and cost estimates, detailed technical reports, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and detailed analyses.
  • Providing technical engineering services during construction, including the review of contractor submissions.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with other Engineering disciplines and departments.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with clients.
  • Leading successful project pursuits, including determining budget estimates and staffing requirements and writing winning proposals.
  • Performing Project Management duties including assembling and managing project teams, controlling project budgets and schedules, quality control of deliverables, client interaction and management, and financial reporting.
  • Working to tight project schedules while ensuring quality of project deliverables.
  • Providing input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and less experienced Engineers working on the same and other projects, while ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
