Requirements

Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mining and metal projects.
Minimum 5 years of experience as Lead Engineer in a mining and Metal project.
Competent and proven record in technical leadership roles.
Discipline project execution related skills and experience.
Experience working in revamp projects is an asset.
Experience in interdisciplinary coordination.
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
Driven to independently complete assigned tasks in a time-effective manner.

Responsibilities

Perform CSA design development in several project phases (conceptual design, front-end design, detail engineering, and design for integration of new facilities in revamp type projects, as well as for ‘small’ grass-root type of multi-disciplinary projects).
Lead in structural, civil, and geotechnical design within projects and writing of contractor’s scope of works.
Lead/coordinate a Civil Structural design team.
Prepare schedules, man-hour estimates, and manpower forecasts.
Communicate and align with clients, vendors, and other disciplines.
Supervise and act as a mentor for junior-level designers or engineers.
Promote and support value improvements, initiatives, and continuous performance improvement.
Participate in design reviews within the project team.
Work independently, control/lead small teams, including work sharing with foreign offices.
Assure quality of work assigned and technical integrity of design documents.
Proactively report project status and constraints.
Prepare and check man-hour estimates and material estimates, and monthly budget reports for all engineering efforts.
Perform technical bid evaluations of received bids from suppliers.
Develop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecasts.
Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts.
Develop and review specifications, including design criteria.
Participate in activities associated with structural procurement packages, permitting, and subcontracting.
Perform and check calculations, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexity.
Participate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counseling.
Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
Indicate strong technical interests and background with structural engineering.
Undertake structural engineering work related to resource project development and construction.
Other duties as assigned.
