About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Structural Intern in Fairfax, VA. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems for a variety of building types while working closely with experienced engineers and consultants. In this role, you'll support project delivery through design assistance, documentation, coordination across disciplines, and periodic job site observations while working within project budgets and client expectations. You'll contribute across commercial and institutional markets, with exposure to mission critical and data center work in Northern Virginia, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with structural design portions of projects according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Assist with researching project resources.
  • Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files.
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and supplier teams.
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
  • Assist with reviewing project documents.
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services as required by the contract services agreement.
