About The Position

Boeing’s Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) organization is seeking a Structural Facilities Engineer to join our Projects Assets Construction & Engineering (PACE) team, at either the Experienced or Senior level, in Huntsville, AL. This role offers an opportunity to join a high-performing facilities organization, expand technical expertise, and contribute to the enterprise Facilities Engineering and Technology team. The selected candidate will focus on providing hands-on support for reactive equipment repairs, contributing to the planning and execution of construction projects through requirements development and project oversight, and identifying opportunities to enhance site infrastructure. The position emphasizes structural design and structural/seismic analysis for building systems and equipment support, including foundation design, roadway repairs, building modifications, and support for large equipment installations projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD (or similar CAD package).
  • 3+ years of experience in a Civil and/or Structural engineering role.
  • 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).
  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in design, analysis, and evaluation of building structures, including foundations, roofing, framing, floors, equipment supports, seismic bracing, roadways, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience leading construction projects.
  • 5+ years of experience with building and safety codes.
  • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Experience working in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams to develop conceptual designs, final designs, cost estimates, and provide maintenance support for the structural phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems, and grounds, including advanced seismic designs.
  • Review structural/seismic designs to assess compliance with customer requirements, building codes, and regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices, and materials.
  • Lead teams to ensure accuracy of drawing archives/libraries by reviewing contractor redlines.
  • Identify errors and document construction changes to align with regulatory requirements, facility standards, and record retention requirements.
  • Lead production or procurement of detailed design documents.
  • Use appropriate resources to produce project drawings, specifications, and permit application packages in accordance with project parameters.
  • Coordinate designs; review and approve documents.
  • Provide recommendations for strategic, short-term, and long-term infrastructure planning; complete studies; analyze current conditions and future requirements; recommend capital improvements; gather and analyze data; and work with both internal and external customers to identify and assess alternatives and impacts.
  • Lead in interpretation and analysis of regulations, standards, codes, and ordinances with respect to project requirements.
  • Translate customer requirements into conceptual design by analyzing intended use/occupancy and desired aesthetics, conducting code research, developing preliminary design elements, determining interdisciplinary engineering support requirements, estimating resource costs/requirements, identifying materials, equipment, and services, and developing an initial project schedule to establish project scope.
  • Offer project alternatives to ensure compliance.
  • Provide support to secure permits.
