About The Position

The Structural Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of structural engineering projects from initiation through completion. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role has accountability for project scope, schedule, budget, quality, client satisfaction, and overall project performance and profitability. The Project Manager serves as a key point of contact for clients and leads internal project teams and consultants to ensure projects are executed efficiently and in accordance with firm standards and contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong interdisciplinary awareness, including coordination with structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and site requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Maintains a professional presence during virtual meetings. When participating in meetings through Microsoft Teams or other video conferencing platforms, employees are expected to be on camera unless otherwise approved or circumstances prevent camera use.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years focused on retail and/or commercial projects.
  • Active licensure in Structural Engineering is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and manage all phases of structural engineering projects.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, contracts, and staffing plans.
  • Monitor and track project progress, budgets, invoices, and aged accounts.
  • Maintain accountability for overall project performance and profitability.
  • Identify project risks and implement strategies to mitigate impacts to scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Build, maintain, and manage strong client relationships.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate and coordinate project requirements with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in and lead client and consultant meetings as required.
  • Act independently on matters within area of professional expertise while keeping leadership informed of significant issues.
  • Apply advanced structural engineering knowledge to a variety of project types and complexities.
  • Oversee and review structural design documents, calculations, drawings, and specifications for accuracy and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, zoning regulations, and approval processes.
  • Coordinate structural design with other disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, architectural, and site engineering.
  • Support resolution of technical issues encountered during design and construction.
  • Develop project proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and fee budgets.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and allocate resources effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Support contract development and negotiation in coordination with firm leadership.
  • Ensure timely delivery of project milestones and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and accountability.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams to support efficient project execution.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of team members, as assigned.
  • Promote collaboration, quality, and adherence to firm standards across all projects.
