About The Position

This internship offers the opportunity to provide structures analytical support for commercial and military programs, focusing on the durability and structural integrity of gas-turbine compressor components. Responsibilities include supporting preliminary and detailed design, development, validation, certification, manufacturing, and operational service. Interns will also be involved in validation testing, data reduction, and supporting in-service field investigations. The role utilizes Finite Element (FE) and classical methods for various analyses, including strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic, and optimization. Results will be documented and presented to management and internal customers. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience solving challenging engineering problems and to help interns develop an understanding of the aerospace industry, RTX, and its operations.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
  • The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position.
  • The company will not seek an export authorization for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in structural analysis, with problem solving skills using FEM for stress/deflection and vibration analyses.

Responsibilities

  • Provide structures analytical support for commercial and military programs, with responsibility for the durability and structural integrity of gas-turbine compressor components.
  • Provide analytical support for preliminary & detailed design, through development, validation, certification, manufacturing and operational service.
  • Cover validation testing (engine and rig) and data-reduction.
  • Support in-service field investigations.
  • Use FE and classical methods for strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses.
  • Document and present results to management and internal customers.
