About The Position

DLR Group is seeking a Structural Engineering Summer Intern for their Southwest region. This role is part of the Emerging Professional Experience (EPX) Program, designed to provide interns with a meaningful introduction to an integrated design firm and a strong foundation in the AEC industry. Interns will gain hands-on experience through project work, mentorship, and learning sessions covering various aspects of the design profession. The program includes mentorship, project work, and weekly learning sessions on topics such as design culture, sustainability, technology, communication, business development, project management, research, equity, and career development. Interns will have opportunities to connect with leaders and fellow emerging professionals.

Requirements

Completed at least one year at an ABET-accredited Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Architectural Engineering program.
Experience or interest in BIM (e.g. Autodesk Revit MEP) workflow.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of a school/employment or any other visa, regardless of expiration date, now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Interest in architectural building design.
A third-year student in an accredited engineering program.

Responsibilities

Work with a licensed engineer designing structural systems for new construction and/or building renovation projects.
Attend design team meetings with a structural engineer and observe coordination among multi-disciplinary team members.
Assist a structural engineer with the design and development of construction documents primarily using Revit.
Visit an active construction site (contingent on the status of local construction projects).
Coordinate structural design requirements with architecture and other disciplines.
