About The Position
This posting is for Summer 2027 Internship opportunities. IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Vancouver, WA. Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist a team of experienced engineers and consultants with the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems in buildings and other structures. This is a paid, mentored internship with real project work that supports project goals and client expectations. You'll support work that stays aligned with project budgets while coordinating with cross-functional teams across the design process. The team supports commercial work and Pacific Northwest resilience-focused structural efforts, including seismic rehabilitation and utility equipment qualification, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.
Requirements
- Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Strong interest in design consulting
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
Nice To Haves
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards.
- Assist with researching and finding resources for projects.
- Assist with client relations, project design notebook documentation, and permanent record files.
- Assist with coordinating design and schedule with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and supplier partners.
- Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
- Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check.
- Assist with preparation and issuance of addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations and all other services as required by the contract services agreement.
