About The Position

Coffman Engineers is seeking a mid-level to senior-level Structural Engineer with a minimum of eight to ten years of experience in the design of commercial, institutional, and industrial structures, including both new and existing construction, for their Orange County office. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, eager to collaborate and grow within a multidiscipline engineering team, and possess a willingness to have fun. This role involves performing and potentially overseeing structural analysis, design, and detailing, collaborating with architects, owners, and contractors to produce high-quality structural drawings, and potentially leading teams of engineers, designers, and drafters. The position also requires meeting with project teams for effective communication and demonstrates an interest and ability to advance to a senior engineer or project manager position.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Civil or Structural engineering required.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in the structural design of buildings or similar structures.
• Experience with computer analysis software systems.
• Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable consulting architectural practices.
• Ability to build and maintain a strong team of professionals and support staff within a cooperative multidiscipline office performing at a high level of satisfaction to clients.
• Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
• Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in structural engineering preferred.
• Experience in DSA and/or HCAI projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and may oversee structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of projects.
• Collaborate with the architect, owner, and contractor to provide a well-coordinated and high-quality set of structural drawings.
• May lead a team of engineers, designers, and drafters to execute structural designs.
• Meet with the project team to ensure effective communication flow during design.
• Interest and ability to advance to a senior engineer or project manager position.
