About The Position

Mead & Hunt is seeking a structural engineer to join their dams, hydropower, and water resources team. This role involves preparing engineering calculations and design documents for hydraulic structures and other structural engineering projects, including dams, spillways, canals, pump stations, and valve houses. The position also includes collaborating with project team members, supporting condition assessments of existing structures, assisting with cost estimates, visiting project sites, supporting construction administration, and assisting with client communication. A valid driver's license and some travel are required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in civil, structural or architectural engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
• At least two (2) years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• A valid driver’s license
• Some travel will be required.

Nice To Haves

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary project team.
• Knowledge of/experience with the design of hydraulic structures.
• Strong technical writing skills and experience writing reports, specifications, and technical memorandums.
• Knowledge of/experience with California Building Code, ASCE 7, ACI 318, ACI 350, and AISC 360.
• Experience with structural engineering software programs including finite element analysis and CAD programs such as RISA 3D, SAP2000, and AutoCAD.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license

Responsibilities

• Preparing engineering calculations and design documents for hydraulic structures and other structural engineering projects, including dams, spillways, canals, pump stations, and valve houses.
• Collaborating with project team members to prepare calculations, reports, specifications, plans, and schedules.
• Supporting with condition assessments of existing structures.
• Assisting with the development of probable construction cost estimates.
• Visiting project sites to collect data and monitor progress.
• Supporting construction administration for projects in construction.
• Assisting with client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
• Attending client meetings when necessary.
