About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to be a part of a team working on the design and management of hydroelectric and fisheries related facilities, incorporating the skills of civil, structural, and hydraulic engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • BS, BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering (concentration in Structural Engineering)
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in structural engineering
  • Knowledge of standards and codes applicable to the structural engineering discipline
  • Experience with analysis and design of concrete and steel structures in and around water
  • Experience coordinating with hydrology/hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical engineers
  • Experience with structural modeling software (MathCAD, RISA-3D, SAP2000, AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Permanent authorization to work in Canada
  • Able to acquire authorization to work in the United States
  • Willing to travel within Canada
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Willing to travel to the United States for business purposes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hydroelectric design projects
  • Experience with fisheries related or water resource projects
  • Specialty experience within the structural engineering discipline, such as seismic design or finite element modeling
  • Familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects and client relationships.
  • Perform technical design for hydroelectric, fisheries, and water resources projects.
  • Manage project teams that include junior and senior-level staff, drafters, and project coordinators.
  • Manage or lead multiple projects concurrently.
  • Provide overall project management and client coordination and/or technical leadership of internal teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Mentor junior-level staff.
  • Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team while applying engineering skills from analysis and design through to construction.
  • Establish long-lasting relationships with clients to assist them in solving complex engineering work.
  • Apply engineering throughout the longevity of the project.
  • Work in the field with clients and contractors during planning and construction of projects.
