About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join our team, starting in Summer 2027. This role involves applying extensive knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices to a variety of materials and construction techniques. You will perform hand calculations, create computer analysis models, and ensure designs comply with building codes. The position requires collaboration with other disciplines, review of geotechnical reports, and the design of various structural systems including framing and foundations. You will also be responsible for estimating costs, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, conducting field inspections, and drafting contract documents. This role offers an opportunity to support talent growth within the organization and contribute to diverse industrial and commercial building projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
  • 0-3 years of relevant structural experience or schooling in industrial and commercial building structure
  • 0-3 years of experience or schooling performing calculations, creating analysis models for structural designs
  • 0-3 years of experience or schooling in structural and concrete drafting sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Detailed planning and organization skills.
  • Experience with structural analysis software
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed (15 days a year)

Nice To Haves

  • RAM Structural system and RAM Elements knowledge or experience is a plus
  • EIT / FE desirable

Responsibilities

  • Apply extensive and diverse knowledge of principles and practices for a wide range of materials and construction techniques.
  • Perform hand calculations and create computer analysis models for structural design tasks.
  • Determine the correct building code and locate any local or site-specific amendments.
  • Document gravity design loads, wind design loads, and seismic design loads.
  • Work with and design common structural framing systems (steel, composite steel, joists).
  • Work with and design common foundations systems (Spread footings, drilled piers).
  • Estimate foundation types & sizes and preliminary steel sizes.
  • Coordinate structural work with other disciplines.
  • Review geotechnical reports.
  • Design mat slabs for process tanks, vessels, and silos.
  • Design pipe bridges.
  • Perform take offs from structural plans.
  • Contact potential bidders for preliminary budget estimates.
  • Review submittals.
  • Field measure existing structures to gather necessary information.
  • Draft sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD.
  • Review project documentation for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and calculations.
  • Estimate construction costs with quantity take offs and historic costs.
  • Conduct field inspections & condition assessments and prepare reports.
  • Research structural engineering materials and best practices.
  • Support talent growth within our organization.
