About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer for employment in Orlando, FL. This role serves as a senior technical resource, potentially acting as a technical advisor for the team. The engineer will provide specialized technical input to studies and designs within their area of expertise, develop study and design procedures for high-quality, cost-effective work by others, and participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables. Responsibilities also include developing construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts, utilizing expertise in all steps of completing discipline components of PS&E packages, performing quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings, preparing technical specification sections, and providing input to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.

Requirements

  • BA/BS plus six years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • PE License is required.
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills, including technical report writing.
  • Structural problem analysis skills (including knowledge/use of design and calculation tools, software).
  • Knowledgeable of standard engineering practices, techniques and applicable codes.
  • Ability to do occasional field work (site visits and inspections) and travel.
  • Must be able to work in the evenings or on weekends as needed, to perform outreach activities or staff public meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering degree.
  • 10 + years of bridge design and plan development experience.
  • Project experience in TN, AL, NC, SC region related to the states and/or local bridge design project work.
  • Proficiency in software such as MicroStation, LEAP Concrete/Bridge, PTC MathCAD, CSiBridge and/or MIDAS Civil.
  • Experience in the plan production of transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.
