About The Position

STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES develops and integrates products, engineering support, repair and maintenance services to provide value-added solutions to owners, engineers and contractors. They provide specialty contracting services through their contracting companies, and state-of-the-art proprietary products and engineering support services through their technologies company. With over 2,500 employees working from locations nationwide and in select international markets, they serve the Commercial, Public, Transportation Industrial, and Power markets to tackle the toughest construction challenges. STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES is the in-house engineering business line of Structural Group. They are seeking motivated early‑career engineers to join their nationwide assessment and repair engineering division. Opportunities are available in their Chicago, Columbia, and Houston offices, with remote options in the Charlotte or Chattanooga areas for qualified candidates. This hybrid role combines intentional in‑person collaboration with work‑from‑home flexibility, offering a challenging and rewarding start to a structural engineering career. As the largest concrete specialty repair contractor in the United States, the STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES group delivers investigate‑design‑build solutions primarily for nuclear, power generation, and industrial clients. Their teams develop innovative repair strategies, integrated products, and engineering support to extend the life and performance of critical infrastructure. Engineers in this role will apply and expand their engineering skills while shaping a career path aligned with their interests, focusing on understanding why structures fail and being accountable for real‑world performance. Supported by experienced mentors, engineers will gain hands‑on exposure across engineering and construction disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam is mandatory
  • 3 - 6 years of experience
  • Solid understanding of how structures behave
  • Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis software such as SAP2000, RISA3D, or STAAD
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or other drafting/BIM software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and curiosity for solving problems and understanding how things work
  • Excellent documentation and organizational abilities
  • Ability to travel and work in the field, both locally and outside the local area
  • Capability to enter secure facilities (e.g., Nuclear and Industrial plants)
  • Strong focus on working safely in a variety of challenging environments

  • Professional registration is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Gain exposure to structural failure mechanisms
  • Evaluate distressed structures and determine root cause
  • Decide when repair vs. replacement is appropriate
  • Design repairs that must be constructible, durable, and safe in live Nuclear or industrial facilities
  • Work side by side with construction teams—not just hand off drawings
