About The Position

Harriman is growing and seeking a Structural Engineer to join their full-service practice. This role offers a hybrid-work environment and emphasizes work-life balance and collaboration. The position involves working on challenging and creative projects across various design markets including PK-12 education, higher education, government, commercial development, and retail.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain PE license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (with a structural focus) or Structural Engineering.
  • Knowledge of New England States Building Codes.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong work ethic.

  • Be flexible, adaptable, and open to new ideas.
  • Actively seek out clarification via the expertise of colleagues when unsure.

  • Inform studio leader of PTO, or unexpected time away from the office and record in studio PTO Calendar.

  • Conduct oneself professionally.
  • Software proficiency: Bluebeam, Revit, Newforma Project Center, Deltek Vision, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom/Teams/Video Conferencing Software.

Nice To Haves

  • FE certification (a plus but not required within two years of graduation).
  • Experience with Revit, Ram Structural Systems, Risa, and Tedds.
  • Involvement in community and/or design-focused organizations or associations.
  • A love for design, and desire to contribute to the build environment in a real way.
  • A collaborative spirit, a sense of humor, and a desire to work closely with others.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other structural team members, architects, engineers in other studios, and consultants to support project work.
  • Become engaged in all aspects of structural engineering design of buildings from design inception through construction.
  • Complete engineering calculations.
  • Utilize structural engineering analysis software (RAM & Risa).
  • Model structural systems in Revit.
  • Participate in mentoring and professional development initiatives.
  • Travel to project construction sites to review construction progress and learn about construction phase responsibilities.
  • Manage efforts efficiently and effectively to complete tasks on time.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and activities such as project team and committee meetings, all-office meetings, and studio-specific meetings.
  • Communicate effectively.
