Requirements

Licensed Civil PE in California
Minimum of 8 years of experience in designing light-framed wood systems, architectural steel components such as stairs and canopies, and foundations.
Ability to apply your expertise in novel ways, exploring new approaches and pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
Experience with BIM systems such as Revit.
Experience creating tools and processes for an engineering group.
Strong technical expertise and can use experience to creatively solve unconventional engineering challenges.
Highly detailed and can visualize how all the pieces of a building go together.
Ability to work cross-functionally with teams such as engineering, design, manufacturing and site operations to successfully manage projects from strategy through to execution.

Responsibilities

Design and document project-specific structural elements, including foundations, for each home project.
Coordinate with architects and engineers to deliver fully coordinated, constructable designs.
Perform site observation, review submittals, and respond to manufacturing and construction RFIs.
Create structural engineering tools, systems, and processes to expedite the design and documentation process.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with Field, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Design teams.
Develop a deep understanding of all aspects of the product, including design for manufacturing, transportation, and assembly.
Contribute to scaling our processes efficiently by managing up to 10 projects concurrently.
Play a crucial role in expanding our home product line, which will include designing various components of our home including light-frame wood modules and architectural steel elements.
