Requirements

  • Licensed Civil PE in California
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in designing light-framed wood systems, architectural steel components such as stairs and canopies, and foundations.
  • Ability to apply your expertise in novel ways, exploring new approaches and pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
  • Experience with BIM systems such as Revit.
  • Experience creating tools and processes for an engineering group.
  • Strong technical expertise and can use experience to creatively solve unconventional engineering challenges.
  • Highly detailed and can visualize how all the pieces of a building go together.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with teams such as engineering, design, manufacturing and site operations to successfully manage projects from strategy through to execution.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document project-specific structural elements, including foundations, for each home project.
  • Coordinate with architects and engineers to deliver fully coordinated, constructable designs.
  • Perform site observation, review submittals, and respond to manufacturing and construction RFIs.
  • Create structural engineering tools, systems, and processes to expedite the design and documentation process.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with Field, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Design teams.
  • Develop a deep understanding of all aspects of the product, including design for manufacturing, transportation, and assembly.
  • Contribute to scaling our processes efficiently by managing up to 10 projects concurrently.
  • Play a crucial role in expanding our home product line, which will include designing various components of our home including light-frame wood modules and architectural steel elements.
