AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer to be based in New York, NY. This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2027. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Master of Science (with Structural Engineering concentration).
  • Experience with computer analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, STAAD.Pro, and SAFE.
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Undertaking design and planning activities on maritime projects - container terminals, mining/bulk, oil/gas, marinas, ports and harbors, coastal resiliency, and development schemes.
  • Undertaking design and planning activities on vertical building structural projects – aviation facilities, transit stations, freight rail facilities, and ancillary buildings related to roadway projects.
  • Preparing structural design utilizing hand calculations, Excel workbooks, and advanced structural analysis software to determine applied loading, demand requirements, and appropriate foundation and member specifications.
  • Preparing structural technical sketches, drawings, specifications and reports under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Exercising judgment in developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Coordinating with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
  • Performing condition assessments and site visits as needed. Occasional short to medium term site visits may also become necessary depending on project requirements.
