About The Position

Salas O’Brien is seeking a Structural Engineer experienced in the design of industrial plant civil & structural projects. This role involves designing heavy concrete foundations, fabricated steel structures, platforms, stair towers, metal buildings, and grading & drainage elements. The engineer will also perform site condition assessments, submit inspection reports and repair recommendations, interpret geotechnical reports, and create various design drawings and plans. Ensuring designs meet IBC, ASCE, and related building code requirements is crucial. Experience with STAAD-Pro design modeling software and quality control of engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications is also required.

Requirements

BS – Civil or Structural Engineering
5-10 years of experience with a construction firm, equipment manufacturer or with an engineering firm
Must be licensed or able to obtain PE registration within 2 years
Must be proficient in AutoCAD software, Revit, and Plant 3D.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with other engineering disciplines

Responsibilities

Design of industrial plant civil & structural projects including heavy concrete foundations (including drilled piers/driven piles), fabricated steel structures, platforms & stair towers, metal buildings, grading & drainage elements.
Perform site condition assessments and submit inspection reports & repair recommendations.
Interpret geotechnical reports, create foundation drawings and location plans, structural steel plan & elevation drawings, anchor bolt schedules, and review steel shop drawings.
Ensure all designs meet the requirements of the IBC, ASCE & related building codes.
Utilize STAAD-Pro design modeling software.
Review and quality control of engineering design calculations, structural drawing packages and specifications.
