Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree Civil Engineering required
  • 4-8 years’ relevant bridge design experience
  • Ability to work in team environment as an individual contributor
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking, judgment, and experience to define, analyze and resolve problems and issues

Nice To Haves

  • P.E. preferred
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Familiarity with the MassDOT Bridge Manual a plus

Responsibilities

  • Technical content and project management tasks related to public infrastructure bridge projects.
  • Development of design plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates for public bidding.
  • Providing support and guidance for junior staff.
  • Client and subconsultant management and coordination.
  • Tracking of project budgets.
  • Delegation of work tasks to support staff.
  • Basic knowledge of survey data collection, land rights, and regulatory permitting.
  • Ability to take projects from concept level to construction.
  • Deep knowledge of all matters related to the project development cycle with stakeholders of all experience and knowledge levels.
  • Assist with conceptual, preliminary, and detailed final design of new bridges.
  • Perform assessment and rehabilitation design of existing bridges.
  • Preparation of bridge plans, writing project technical specifications and technical reports, design calculations, and provisions of construction phase services.
  • Perform Primary or Independent bridge quantity/cost take-offs.
  • Perform Quality Control (QC) of project documents.
  • Assist on bridge projects from a technical perspective and coordinate with other disciplines and subconsultants, as necessary.
  • Field visits to project sites, as necessary.
