About The Position

We are seeking an experienced structural engineer to join our integrated architecture and engineering team to help scale our processes and expand our home product line.

Requirements

  • Licensed Civil PE in California
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in designing light-framed wood systems, architectural steel components such as stairs and canopies, and foundations.
  • Ability to apply expertise in novel ways, exploring new approaches and pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
  • Experience with BIM systems such as Revit.
  • Experience creating tools and processes for an engineering group.
  • Strong technical expertise and ability to creatively solve unconventional engineering challenges.
  • Highly detailed and able to visualize how all the pieces of a building go together.
  • Team player willing to roll up their sleeves and help others meet team goals.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with teams such as engineering, design, manufacturing, and site operations to successfully manage projects from strategy through to execution.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and desire to make buildings better for those who build and use them.

Responsibilities

  • Designing foundations, permit and construction documents, and addressing manufacturing and field RFIs for each home.
  • Managing up to 10 projects concurrently.
  • Expanding our home product line by designing various components, including light-frame wood modules and architectural steel elements.
  • Developing a deep understanding of all aspects of the product, including design for manufacturing, transportation, and assembly.
  • Designing and documenting project-specific structural elements, including foundations, for each home project.
  • Coordinating with architects and engineers to deliver fully coordinated, constructable designs.
  • Performing site observation, reviewing submittals, and responding to manufacturing and construction RFIs.
  • Creating structural engineering tools, systems, and processes to expedite the design and documentation process.
  • Building strong, collaborative relationships with Field, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Design teams.
