About The Position

Bechtel’s Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil/structural aspects are met. #LI-ME1

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
  • Recognized as advanced contributor with precast structural engineering
  • Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline
  • Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of complex issues in creative and effective ways

Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts independent Civil/Structural work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil/Structural engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit
  • Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of precast structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs)
  • Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, change orders, and bid summaries for the project to which assigned
  • Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
  • Originates and checks complex Civil/Structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
  • Develops conceptual designs for Civil/Structural engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements primarily for precast design
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting
  • Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data
  • Mentors Civil/Structural engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development
  • Leads constructability reviews
