About The Position

GreenWorks Engineering is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to lead structural design, analysis, and project delivery for both residential and commercial projects. This role is responsible for producing and reviewing structural designs, ensuring code compliance, and providing engineering oversight, including sealing drawings and calculations. Typical project work includes residential additions, remodels, and structural retrofits, commercial tenant improvements and small-to-mid scale commercial buildings, foundation and slab design (residential & commercial), structural framing design (wood, steel, and light commercial systems), load-bearing wall removal and beam design, plan review, and internal quality control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
  • 4+ years of structural engineering experience
  • Experience sealing drawings and taking responsibility as Engineer of Record
  • Strong knowledge of structural design principles (wood, steel, concrete)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and structural analysis software
  • Working knowledge of IBC, IRC, and local building codes
  • Strong engineering judgment and accountability
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Clear communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on constructability and efficiency
  • Problem-solving in both design and field conditions

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze structural systems for residential and commercial projects, including additions, remodels, and new construction
  • Serve as Engineer of Record, reviewing and sealing structural drawings, calculations, and reports
  • Develop structural solutions for foundations, framing systems, load paths, and structural modifications
  • Review architectural and engineering plans to ensure structural integrity and constructability
  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes (IBC, IRC, and local jurisdictions)
  • Provide technical guidance to drafters, designers, and junior engineers
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, MEP, architectural)
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and field verifications as needed
  • Address RFIs, revise plans, and support construction-phase engineering
