About The Position

As a Structural Engineer Intern, you will be assigned to work on a project team in our Energy & Industrial Group business unit and assist the Power Generation and Oil & Gas engineering team members in the execution of their project work. These projects may involve the design of new and/or modifications and upgrades to power generation, oil & gas production, gas transmission and distribution, renewable, and/or carbon-capture engineering projects. Working under the direction of senior engineers, this internship will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Structural Engineering in one or more of the following areas: Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs. Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and associated data. Be involved in system designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major industrial energy equipment and related installation services.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with a strong academic background and interest in behavior of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlines.
  • We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior, related internship or co-op experience.
  • Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation is valued but not required.
  • Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems.
