About The Position

Kiewit OGC Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineer Intern to support projects across the company. The engineering team works with construction teams to develop safe, cost-effective, innovative designs that meet client expectations and emphasize constructability. The internship offers opportunities to learn through training and work experience and to contribute to engineering assignments for oil, gas, and chemical projects. The position is based in Houston, Texas, with opportunities for flexible work.

Requirements

Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis, Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis, or Structural Engineering at an ABET-accredited college or university.
Completed a fundamental structural analysis course that includes computer applications.
Completed a strength of materials course with statics and dynamics applications.
Completed a fundamentals of steel design course and/or fundamentals of concrete design course.
Comfortable using basic spreadsheet, database, and word-processing programs.
Familiar with basic structural analysis software, engineering software, and basic CADD software for reviewing drafter work.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance and work safely and effectively.

Nice To Haves

Specific knowledge of SAP2000, MathCad, and Navisworks is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Perform basic calculations under the supervision of a more senior engineer and seek guidance from experienced engineers as needed.
Apply and build a solid foundation of technical knowledge.
Expand knowledge through training and work experience.
Learn applicable codes and standards to complete assignments.
Perform non-routine technical assignments of limited scope.
Work productively, meet deadlines, communicate professionally, follow instructions and safety policies, and work overtime or weekends as required.
