The Thornton Tomasetti Construction Engineering Practice leverages our core Structural Engineering expertise to meet the engineering needs of our contractor. We provide contractor support engineering, tower crane engineering, skip hoist engineering, shoring and reshoring design, excavation and earth retention engineering, connection design, erection engineering, contractor support engineering. We also partner with contractors and sub-contractors to provide value engineering ideas and perform structural design on design-build projects. The Role We are seeking a talented Structural Engineering student for our Construction Engineering Practice to join us as an intern the summer of 2026. The intern will be involved in tower crane and skip hoist engineering, shoring / reshoring design, earth retention system design, temporary stability analysis, and the design of structures. The successful applicant will assist in the design of structures that are delegated to the contractor.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate student with a concentration in engineering or architecture.
  • Excellent academic record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Revit, Tekla, and AutoCAD is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for structural analysis, design, detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems.
  • Coordination of design work with in-house staff as we as other design professionals including Architects and other Engineering disciplines.
  • Preparation of construction documents within a BIM environment.
