This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days a week in the office and two days remote. The position allows for direct application of knowledge in materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design. As part of an engineering and design team, you will work on power transmission modifications and upgrades, creating calculations, documenting designs, and specifications. You will tackle challenging assignments involving investigation, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of structural engineering issues. Responsibilities include performing structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment, and foundations, as well as developing integrated structural designs and supporting calculations. You will have direct client interface, communicating technical information, and prepare technical specifications for structural materials. The role also involves independent reviews of work performed by others, coordinating and guiding other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers, and performing reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, presenting findings to clients and peers. Career development is supported through peer-learning and knowledge sharing via S&L’s systems and "Communities of Practice." Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to substation locations for construction coordination and field verification is expected.
