This Structural Engineer 2 role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days per week in the office and two days working remotely. The position provides a range of structural engineering opportunities supporting new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants. You will collaborate with structural engineers, interface with other engineering disciplines, and guide less experienced project team members. As part of engineering and design teams serving various clients, you will apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design. You will prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support designers in developing drawings. Using computer tools, you will analyze and design steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations. The role may involve travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification. Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, including small modular reactors, advanced reactor technology, nuclear plant life extensions and digital modernization, coal-to-nuclear initiatives, and international new-build projects. The company describes its work as supporting clean, carbon-free energy and reducing emissions.
