About The Position

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days a week in the office and two days remote. The position utilizes creativity and innovation to develop CAD 3D design models of steel structures and concrete foundations for 2D drawing deliverables. Responsibilities include supporting senior designers by producing structural drawings on-time and within budget, while maintaining quality, consistency, and accountability. The role involves collaborating with mechanical and electrical designers to resolve clashes within the 3D model and may require travel to client facilities to verify on-site physical design conditions. The position also involves adapting to a wide range of technologies in power generation, mining, oil & gas, and renewables, with a focus on carbon capture technologies, solar, wind, battery storage, hydrogen, and natural gas.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in at least one major CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD or MicroStation).
  • Awareness of American Concrete Institute (ACI) for foundation design
  • Awareness of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) manual for steel design
  • Awareness of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
  • Attention to detail
  • Time management

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Computer Aided Design Technology preferred
  • CAD certificate required if non-degreed
  • Previous relevant experience considered
  • CAD Software skills valued but not required
  • Bentley OpenBuildings Designer
  • Autodesk Navisworks

Responsibilities

  • Develop CAD 3D design models of steel structures and concrete foundations used to produce 2D drawing deliverables.
  • Support senior designers by producing structural drawings that are completed on-time and within budget, while maintaining quality, consistency, and accountability that meets or exceeds customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical designers to resolve clashes within the 3D model, optimizing the overall design.
  • Travel to client facilities with experienced project team members may be necessary to verify on-site physical design conditions.
  • Adapt to a wide range of technologies in power generation, mining, oil & gas, and renewables.
