About The Position

HCM is a collaborative design firm seeking a strong Structural Designer for its Philadelphia, Lancaster, or Pittsburgh office. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent communication skills, a desire for involvement in all aspects of project design and construction, and a thrives in a collaborative workplace. Daily duties will encompass developing design concepts, producing construction documents and specifications, interacting with clients and consultants, and contract administration. The role requires an organized, versatile, and active participant in the office culture.

Requirements

Associate degree or equivalent technical school/program certification.
Three years of experience working as a structural drafter/modeler for building structures.
Proficiency with REVIT Structural BIM Software with exposure to Autodesk Construction Cloud and Bluebeam.
Thorough understanding of general building construction, structural symbols, and standard detailing practices.
Meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the communication skills necessary to collaborate within a multidisciplinary project environment.

Responsibilities

Work in REVIT Structure, developing accurate 3D models translating to plans, framing layouts, elevations, sections, and schedules for various structural systems, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood framing.
Link and coordinate structural models with architectural and MEP files to proactively identify and resolve spatial clashes, dimensional conflicts, and constructability issues.
Work within company BIM standards, template configurations, family creation, and project file maintenance structures.
Perform self-checks on drawing deliverables for annotation clarity, scaling, and accuracy before submitting them for engineering review.
