About The Position

The Structural Designer is responsible for working under the supervision of Engineers and Lead Designers to develop structural engineering solutions to the design of buildings and other load-bearing structures.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 2+ years of experience

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree preferred
• Prior experience working in an office environment or worked collaboratively on projects
• Has working understanding of construction drawings/plans and can visualize structural elements in three dimensions
• Exhibits a professional demeanor and be a proactive problem solver
• Understands construction drawings/plans and can visualize structural elements in three dimensions
• Knowledge of Autodesk Building Systems Software
• Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in meetings and reports along with respect, tact and diplomacy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with other disciplines and contractors to support the development of design deliverables such as drawings and specifications
• Works in Autodesk Building Systems Software environment to develop drafting and detailing skills
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals to understand how design and construction are inter-related
• Attends construction and design verification walks and submit report of observations
• Works with the Structural project discipline lead and Senior Engineers to understand the scope of work, schedule, budget, project instructions and responsibilities
• Starts and maintains a discipline file of working drawings for the project
• Other duties as assigned
