About The Position

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remote. The position utilizes creativity and innovation to develop CAD 3D design models of steel structures and concrete foundations for 2D drawing deliverables. The Structural Designer 1 will support senior designers by producing structural drawings that are completed on-time and within budget, while maintaining quality, consistency, and accountability. This role involves collaborating with mechanical and electrical designers to resolve clashes within the 3D model and may require travel to client facilities to verify on-site physical design conditions. The position also involves adapting to a wide range of technologies in power generation, mining, oil & gas, and renewables, including carbon capture, solar, wind, battery storage, hydrogen, and natural gas.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Computer Aided Design Technology preferred, or CAD certificate required if non-degreed.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in structural design.
  • Proficiency in at least one major CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD or MicroStation).
  • Awareness of American Concrete Institute (ACI) for foundation design.
  • Awareness of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) manual for steel design.
  • Awareness of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Time management.

Nice To Haves

  • CAD Software skills valued but not required: Bentley OpenBuildings Designer, Autodesk Navisworks.
