About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Senior or Intermediate Structural Design Engineer to join their growing team in the Toronto West office in Ontario Province. The successful individual will develop and manage projects for the construction of new or modification to existing transportation, water & wastewater, commercial, industrial, power, and institutional buildings & structures, ensuring conformance with building codes. They will perform responsible, professional level foundation & structural and seismic analysis, and building and structural inspections. The scope of projects ranges from minor renovations to major projects. The Structural Design Engineer will collaborate with engineers and BIM modelers in the Toronto-West head office and other Arcadis offices globally, involving coordination with other disciplines both internally and internationally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 4-12 years experience in structural design
  • Registered P. Eng in Ontario Province
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canadian design standards and codes.
  • Proficiency and understanding of structural design software such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot, SAP2000 is expected.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and software such as Bluebeam is expected.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills with a strong ability to lead the structural design of projects.
  • Ability to confidently relate with all levels of staff and clientele - Internal and External.
  • Excellent work ethic and desire to succeed.
  • Effective communication in the English language (verbal and written).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an asset
  • Registration in other provinces is an asset.
  • Knowledge of US codes and standards is an asset.
  • Project experience on City of Toronto and TTC projects will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of 3D BIM is an asset such as REVIT & Navisworks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural analysis & design of structures and the preparation of drawings and specifications
  • Carry out seismic analysis, seismic design, and seismic performance assessment
  • Coordination with other design disciplines (Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, etc…)
  • Attend meetings and prepare presentations when required
  • Prepare bid documentation for project pursuits
  • Conduct periodic site reviews to ensure construction complies with design intent and codes
  • Reviewing & responding to submittments (RFI’s, Shop Drawings, etc…) during CA phase of projects
  • Provide direction to, and work with, Engineering & CAD staff
  • Provide peer reviews of other engineer’s work
  • Mentorship to Jr. Engineers
  • Perform QA/QC activities
