About The Position

BGS is seeking a Structural Design Engineer for the KC-135 Design Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The team is responsible for developing and performing design engineering for sustainment, modification and improvements of military and commercial derivative aircraft. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Mid-Level Structural Design Engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 1+ years’ experience in Model Based Definition (MBD)
  • 1+ years’ experience using CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and/or DELMIA
  • Experience working with configuration management tools such as CMPro or Teamcenter
  • 1+ years’ experience maintaining and supporting process updates and engineering changes
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
  • 3+ years’ experience using CATIA v5 and ENOVIA
  • Experience leading a team of engineers with responsibility for the cost, schedule, and technical quality of their output

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural design technical lead tasks for Structures Capability Team
  • Responsible for developing detail and modification design concepts/final design and meeting contractual/productibility requirements for end item deliverables; This includes structural modifications, mechanical components and primary and secondary structural detail/installation design for Development and Production purposes using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools (CATIAv5 and ENOVIA)
  • Responsible for the integration of detail design of parts/hardware installation and supports planning/manufacturing efforts and associated tools
  • Analyzes and resolves design problems, able to develop and assist others with resolving design discrepancies and analyze the applicability of new and emerging technologies and advanced techniques
  • Support internal/external design reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Preliminary/Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR) with US and Foreign Air Force customers
  • Provide design expertise and technical knowledge to resolve customer inquiries for post-production fleet sustainment
  • Responsible for Material Review Board (MRB) actions, providing engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests)
  • Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of structural commodities
  • Develops complex statements of work, metrics, schedules and budgets
  • Performs technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection
  • Supports new business and proposal activities
  • Works under minimal direction
