About The Position

Benesch is seeking a Structural Project Manager with experience in the design and management of bridge and transportation projects. The ideal candidate will also have experience in bridge inspection, load ratings, and asset management-related services. This role is crucial for leading initiatives and driving growth within our Kansas/Missouri Division. The position offers project management responsibilities, direct supervision, mentorship, and overall leadership opportunities. The role can be hybrid, with employees working from one of our office locations in Kansas or Missouri (Kansas City, KS; Topeka, KS; Wichita, KS; Manhattan, KS; Lenexa, KS; Kansas City, MO), or fully remote for candidates not located near an office.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Registered Engineer in Kansas and/or Missouri
  • Minimum of 7+ years of bridge design experience including project management responsibility preferred
  • Proven experience on KDOT or MoDOT bridge projects preferred
  • Seller/Doer mentality, client interaction experience a plus
  • A track record of adhering to design budgets and project schedules
  • Excellent communication and client relation skills
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with steel/concrete design software
  • Experience with bridge inspection, including completed NHI training a plus
  • Practice good time management skills, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently within time constraints while dealing with numerous concurrent activities
  • Willingness to travel to project/work sites as necessary

Responsibilities

  • Serve as project manager on bridge and transportation design projects
  • Create and execute project work plans including developing project scope, schedule and budget estimates
  • Manage project teams, accountable for budget and schedule
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Contribute to Kansas Division strategic growth initiatives
  • Champion relationships with key clients, including KDOT and/or MoDOT
  • Represent Benesch at industry and professional engagement events
  • Ability to identify opportunities and lead strategic project pursuits
  • Identifying resources needed and effectively delegating staff duties and responsibilities
  • Create and Execute project work plans
  • Serve as the primary interface between the clients and staff for a given project
  • Coordinate, monitor, and review work performed by sub‐consultants
  • Promote the team environment and communication and identify and address team conflicts
  • Networking, including active participation in and leadership of professional organizations
