Dewberry is seeking a Structures (Bridge) Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Mechanicsburg, PA office. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Civil Engineering.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using CADD (Microstation preferred).
  • A desire to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with PennDOT is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Part of a team designing simple and complex bridges (primarily of steel and concrete construction) and a variety of transportation related structures (retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, and other miscellaneous structures) using applicable software.
  • Involved in the development of contract plans, the preparation of engineer's estimates and construction specifications, and performing construction support services.
  • Gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put classroom knowledge into action.
  • Assigned meaningful work and given the opportunity to work on projects similar to what they would be engaging with as a full-time employee.
  • Participate in a series of workshops and events, including networking opportunities, learning about services, projects, and clients, and professional development workshops.
  • Participate in a summer-long group project where interns work alongside firm leaders to address issues that will impact future strategy.
