About The Position

Stratus recently partnered with PVEDI and is seeking a Structural Assistant Project Manager plays a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of structural engineering projects from inception through completion. This position involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, managing project schedules, and ensuring compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards. The Assistant Project Manager will assist in budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management to optimize project outcomes. They will serve as a key liaison between clients, contractors, and internal teams to facilitate clear communication and timely resolution of issues. Ultimately, this role ensures that structural projects are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards within the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in structural engineering or construction project management.
  • Familiarity with structural design principles, construction methods, and relevant building codes (e.g., IBC, AISC).
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Technical knowledge of structural engineering to review and interpret design documents, ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements.
  • Project management skills applied daily to track schedules, budgets, and resources, enabling efficient project execution and timely delivery.
  • Communication skills essential for coordinating between diverse teams and stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with project management and BIM software supports accurate planning, documentation, and visualization of project progress.
  • Risk assessment and organizational skills help anticipate challenges and maintain project quality and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software such as Revit or Tekla Structures.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA standards applicable to construction sites.
  • Previous experience managing structural projects in a consulting or construction firm.
  • Advanced coursework or certification in project management (e.g., PMP).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, executing, and closing structural engineering projects.
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to maintain project efficiency.
  • Review structural design documents and drawings for accuracy and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Support risk management efforts by identifying potential issues and proposing mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and change orders.
  • Facilitate communication among project stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely decision-making.
  • Assist in procurement processes and vendor management related to structural materials and services.
