About The Position

The Montana Department of Transportation is seeking a Structural Asset Data Specialist. This role is for a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to support the management of Montana’s bridge and culvert assets data. The Structural Asset Data Specialist helps ensure MDT has accurate, high-quality structure data used to make informed, cost-effective decisions that keep Montana’s transportation system safe and reliable. In this role, you will work with engineers, district staff, planners, maintenance crews, and local agencies to review inspection data, analyze conditions and trends, identify risks, and support project planning for structure preservation and replacement. You will also help improve data processes, support technology enhancements, and contribute to MDT’s statewide asset management goals. The ideal candidate enjoys analytical work, problem-solving, and collaborating across disciplines. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how MDT manages key transportation infrastructure that serves communities across Montana.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Structural/Civil/Construction Engineering, Transportation Planning, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Technology, Data Science or a related field.
  • 2 years of relative work experience.
  • Any combination of related work experience and education equivalent to the minimum qualifications.
