The Boeing Company is hiring a Mid-Level (Level 3) Structural Analysis Engineer for their Wing & Empennage Life Cycle Product Team in North Charleston, SC. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience performing stress analysis on wing, empennage, or related structures
  • 1+ years of experience performing stress analysis on composite structures
  • Prior experience with manufacturing/production systems
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience working on wing or empennage structures such as Wing tips, wing leading or trailing edges, wing center section, wing box, wing join, vertical, or horizontal stabilizers
  • Experience developing certification related documentation
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication of metallic and composite structures
  • Experience working as the prime technical contact with international suppliers/partners responsible for aircraft primary or other related heavy structures
  • Part 21 and Part 25 Code of Federal Regulations knowledge and experience interacting with Federal Regulators

Responsibilities

  • Perform stress analysis on Boeing 787 Wing and/or Empennage primary structures using classical hand analysis methods, Finite Element tools/methods, and/or Dynamic Simulation tools/methods.
  • Review supplier documents, including engineering drawings, analysis, test plans, procedures, and reports, in support of supplier technical oversight.
  • Develop, integrate, and document structural requirements to establish Wing and/or Empennage primary structure designs.
  • Coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment, such as load cases, interface architecture, and interface loads.
  • Guide product design and verify structural integrity throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics, and performance.
  • Develop test plans and configurations, support test execution, and analyze/report test results to validate and verify that primary structures meet requirements and specifications.
  • Define and document certification and test results to substantiate to customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Support in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Develop certification-related documentation to support CFR Part 25 Type Cert projects.
  • Collaborate and perform oversight on projects with international partners/suppliers.
  • Actively support the growth and development of a new engineering organization.
  • Work under general direction.
