About The Position

The Boeing Company is hiring a Mid-Level Structural Analysis Engineer for their 787 Airframe in BCA (Boeing Commercial Airplanes) on the Stress Liaison team. This role is located in North Charleston, SC. This is an opportunity to work in the Commercial Airplanes South Carolina Design Center. The engineer will develop, integrate, and document structural requirements to establish the structural repair strategy, coordinate with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment, and guide product design and verify structural integrity using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities also include developing test plans, supporting test execution, analyzing test results, defining and documenting certification and test results, and investigating failures and analyzing improvements for in-service products. The role operates under general direction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5+ years of structural analysis engineering related work experience or an equivalent combination of advanced education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience performing structural analysis on metallic structures and composite material systems
  • Prior Experience with production systems in manufacturing or engineering capacity
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the structural repair strategy.
  • Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
  • Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
