About The Position

The Boeing Company, Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Senior Payload Engineer to join their Interiors Responsibility Center South Carolina (IRCSC) team and the 787 Program Interiors team based in North Charleston, SC. This role involves leading a team in the development and release of interior components, requiring interface with various teams including project engineering, production engineering, program/product teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions. The position aims to leverage the expertise and resources of the interiors organization to engineer industry-leading interior products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 9+ years of experience with 3D modeling (Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, ENOVIA, SketchUp, Pro-E, Catia, etc.) and/or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management; Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully managing complex projects.
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, design criteria and engineering release processes.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the Boeing 787 or similar aircraft programs.
  • Familiarity with certification processes and regulatory requirements in the aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods.
  • Provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Leads investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs and innovations to meet projected requirements.
  • Ability to communicate professionally across multiple organizations and/or throughout all levels of leadership.
  • Works under minimal direction.
