About The Position

The STRTP Therapist provides assessment, treatment planning, and direct clinical services to clients at one or more STRTP sites. S/he also works collaboratively with direct childcare staff, families, Probation Officers/Social Workers, and other Child and Family Team (CFT) members to ensure that the client’s needs are being met and addressed in a trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, and clinical manner.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Possesses a MSW or MFT, LCSW or LMFT preferred.
Active registration through the Board of Behavioral Science (BBS).
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
An educational background that will make it possible to earn the children’s/ youth’s respect and to exemplify the values of education.
Personal characteristics to be able to work effectively with the children/ youth in placement as well as adequate knowledge, skills and experience.
Ability to be comfortable with the adolescents and be responsive to their needs.
Ability to accept the children’s parents regardless of their difference in values and standards of conduct.
Possesses the moral integrity, sense of values and a social commitment of the highest standards as required of all staff dealing with adolescents.
Able to handle crises.
Valid California driver’s license; current automobile insurance; have and maintain a clean driving record acceptable to the organization’s insurance company.
Must be able to pass a fingerprint background investigation.
Must be able to pass a TB test, Physical Exam, and Drug Screening.
All employees, regardless of position, serve as role models for children and adolescents who are served by our agencies. Therefore, each employee must at all times be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children, adolescents and adults who may have mental or behavioral health problems. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate daily behavior, appropriate expression of emotions as well as appropriate role modeling. Hostility, aggression, and unnecessary or inappropriate physical actions as well as inappropriate emotional expression are not acceptable
All employees must maintain confidentiality of client and case information and may not access information unless directly related to their job responsibilities and duties, as stated in Title XXII 88069.7 (d): “All information in case records shall be confidential and shall be available only to the licensing agency, placement agency staff and personnel who need access for the performance of their duties.”

Responsibilities

Assesses and creates treatment goals and plans based on client and family need, monitors progress, and adjusts plan and services accordingly.
Provides individual, group, and family therapy to assigned client caseload as well as crisis intervention, intensive care coordination, rehab services, and discharge planning.
Maintains communication and works collaboratively with all treatment team members, referring agencies, and other CFT members.
Facilitates and participates in treatment team, CFT, and case consultation meetings.
Shares client background information and clinical guidance and oversight in best practice approaches to program staff.
Conceptualizes cases and provides services in a strength-based, trauma-informed, client and family-centered, and clinical lens with cultural humility.
Is on-call during the week for assigned clients and on a rotating weekend basis for all STRTP sites.
Documents all services provided in the electronic health records system (Exym) and complies with deadlines and guidelines set by DMH, Probation, DCFS, CCL, CCR, and the agency.
Participates in weekly group supervisions and individual supervision as needed.
Provides agency wide trainings in field of expertise as requested or needed.
Attends and participates in mandatory training and in-services as required.
Performs other tasks and responsibilities as deemed appropriate by supervisor.
Responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy, and therapeutic environment at the STRTP.
Ensuring that each child admitted to the program has a mental health assessment.
Ensuring that each child in the STRTP has commonality of needs with the other children in the STRTP, including whether the child’s presence is adverse to the safety or mental health needs of the child or other children admitted to the STRTP.
Ensuring the mental health services identified on each treatment plan are provided and appropriate to meet the individual needs of the child.
Monitoring the quality of the mental health services provided to the children.
