About The Position

The Stroke Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and supporting the hospital's stroke program. This position promotes timely, evidence-based stroke care across the continuum from emergency department presentation through inpatient care, discharge, and follow-up. The Stroke Coordinator serves as a resource to physicians, nurses, ancillary departments, EMS partners, and hospital leadership regarding stroke care, performance improvement, regulatory requirements, and stroke program standards. The coordinator works collaboratively with the Stroke Medical Director/Physician Lead and multidisciplinary Stroke Committee to monitor outcomes, identify opportunities for improvement, facilitate education, maintain required documentation, and support ongoing readiness for Primary Stroke Center certification and regulatory review.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing RN, BSN preferred.
  • Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in Louisiana.
  • 3-5 years clinical experience.
  • Demonstrates leadership ability.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office and/or other database management systems preferred.
  • Performance improvement or patient safety knowledge and experience preferred.
