About The Position

The Stress Test Assistant functions as an assistant to the stress test coordinator, providing direct patient care before, during, and after exercise and pharmacological cardiac stress testing. This role also involves Holter/event monitor placement, education, and scanning.

Requirements

High School graduate or GED required.
CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines required within 30 days of hire.
Must have the ability to control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.
Must possess manual dexterity to handle equipment and appliances.
Must be capable of stooping, bending and lifting.
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods.
Must be able to adjust to various personalities and situations.

Nice To Haves

Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Credentials as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

Restock supplies and set up exam rooms as directed by the stress nurse or nuclear medicine tech.
Interview patients for history and/or chief complaint.
Prepare patient for stress test including taking blood pressure before, during, and after the stress test as directed by the stress nurse or nuclear medicine tech.
Give home instructions to patients for post stress tests under the direction of a stress nurse or nuclear medicine tech.
Learn nuclear medicine radioactive isotope safety principles and policies.
Dismiss patients upon completion of their test.
Clean exam room and equipment after each patient.
Complete paperwork associated with the exam.
May be required to insert IVs if licensed to do so.
Follow through with requests made by the nurse or technologist to assist them in the performance of their duties.
Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.
Perform other job duties as assigned.
