About The Position

The Stress Relief Helper supports industrial construction stress relief work under the direction of technicians. The role involves assisting with stress relief equipment and recorders, preparing work pieces for preheat and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT), helping with material handling and installation, and maintaining tools and equipment. The helper must follow instructions, learn from technician journeymen, and work safely in challenging site conditions, including uneven terrain and heights.

Requirements

• Less than 4 years of experience in industrial construction as a stress relief technician.
• Basic knowledge of stress equipment and recorders.
• Ability to troubleshoot and fix problems involving stress equipment and work pieces.
• Basic rigging skills.
• Knowledge of wrapping for preheat and PWHT to achieve specific temperatures.
• Proficiency using small power tools, such as die grinders and right-angle grinders.
• Ability to learn to read and comprehend piping isometric drawings.
• Ability to efficiently follow technicians’ instructions and learn from training provided by technician journeymen.
• Ability to safely traverse uneven terrain with tools and building materials.
• Ability to climb vertical ladders and work from heights as necessary.
• Punctuality and dependable attendance in accordance with project work rules.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and help fix problems involving stress equipment and work pieces.
• Wrap work pieces for preheat and PWHT to achieve specified temperatures.
• Assist with lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation.
• Clean tools and equipment and perform minor maintenance activities.
• Follow instructions from technicians and learn from training provided by technician journeymen.
• Safely traverse uneven terrain while carrying tools and building materials.
• Climb vertical ladders and work at heights as necessary.
• Maintain punctuality and dependable attendance in accordance with project work rules.
