About The Position

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Stress Engineer I to join our Engineering Team based in Wichita, KS. This position supports the airline in-service fleet on repairs of aircraft structure and is responsible for quality justifications from a static stress point of view in a timely manner. Duties include performing static analysis for both metallic and non-metallic parts while working in close collaboration with design and fatigue colleagues to provide repair solutions. Methods include the use of both classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop efficient repair solutions to satisfy airworthiness requirements and customers (Airlines/MROs). Requirements

  • Must be currently local to the Wichita, KS metro area
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials.
  • 0 to 3 years total experience in design/analysis with airframe structures
  • 5% Domestic and International Travel involved
  • Authorized to Work in the US without current, or future, need of visa sponsorship
  • Understand basic technical principles, theories, and concepts applying textbook solutions to solve routine technical problems.
  • Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively
  • Dependable, self-motivated and accessible
  • Able to prioritize concurrent assignments with guidance.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures and bill of material systems.
  • Capable of creating and delivering technical documents and presentations with guidance
  • Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and disciplines.
  • Effectively communicates issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work to the Lead

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Minor in Computer Science
  • Internship in the aerospace engineering field with airframe analysis experience
  • MRO/Fleet Engineering experience; MRB Experience
  • Knowledge of maintenance repair shop practices, equipment and capabilities.
  • Conversational French and/or German

Responsibilities

  • Perform simple/routine analyses to verify repair tasks.
  • Review and interpret damage reports of aircraft structures from the Maintenance Repair Organization and verify repair solutions with support.
  • Collaborate with F&DT, Design and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum solutions.
  • Perform functional and technical tasks with guidance.
  • Create or modify technical documents such as: Technical Communications, Technical Dispositions, Repair Instructions, Repair Drawings etc. within various Airbus computer based applications with high quality and efficiency.
  • Provide responses to simple to routine repair queries by giving guidance as required within Airbus Operations and Customer Services in a clear and concise manner.
  • Understand the priorities of assignments and how this affects workflow.
  • Effectively communicate issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work to supervision.
  • Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.
